  • In Tours, old-world charm meets a new-world order. You can go from sipping coffee in the medieval square to watching local farmers and students protest the over-development of the countryside. It’s the perfect place to get a sneak peek at the emerging European Union. But don’t forget you’re in France! You’ll participate in a seminar exploring French culture through such topics as French media, language, and wine and cheese production— including field trips around Tours and to the local châteaux. The program also includes a longer trip to Strasbourg, the seat of the European Parliament.

Take advantage of your residence—located in the older, pedestrian-only section of town—as you tour Tours. With dozens of open-air markets, countless cafés and shops, and plenty of cultural events, you’ll never be bored. Bike along the beautiful Loire River while you contemplate the currents of European political history, or take the TGV supertrain to Paris and feel the future at 180 miles per hour. This is your chance to live it while you learn it!
