The Program
  • Develop your professional skills by interning at one of a wide variety of companies in one of the world's most beautiful and multicultural cities - Cape Town.
  • Expand your professional network and learn critical skills necessary for the increasingly globalized international job market
  • Participate in group excursions around the Cape Peninsula that teach you about the cultural and historic context of your experience

Your Host City: Cape Town
Imagine how your summer internship in Cape Town - named the Telegraph Travel Award's Best City" for four years in a row - could influence your life.

An IES internship develops your professional skills, your ability to communicate across cultures, and provides substantive work experience to jump-start your career in today’s competitive job market. You'll intern at a local business or organization for at least 32 hours per week.  Additionally students will enroll in a required 3- or 6- credit academic internship seminar with other IES interns, where you'll gain context for your placement by examining cultural issues in the workplace.

This is a list of the planned course offerings. Students select from the 3 or 6 credit option. Please note, these classes can change. You will be placed in an internship within your sector but the final placement site is dependent upon which company selects you. Having an international internship experience is a wonderful addition to your resume. By paying the program deposit students are acknowledging their commitment to this professional experience. IES will work closely with business partners and organizations to arrange a placement within your chosen field. However, placement within a specific organization is never guaranteed, nor is it reason to be released from the parameters of the withdrawal policy.
