Program Description:

Sciences 1 If you’re majoring in French or French studies, France is the ideal place to develop your language skills as well as an appreciation of French culture.   But whatever your major, France will excite and engage you as a leading European center for the sciences, humanities, business, politics, and the arts.  French universities and colleges are among the world’s finest in all these fields and, beyond the classroom, you'll be enriched by the country's vast cultural legacy — what the French call their Patrimoine. France has vibrant cities, elegant towns and villages, spectacular châteaux, unblemished countryside and seashores, and of course an unparalleled cuisine.

Why live and study in Paris?  Remember what Hemingway wrote:  "If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man [or woman], then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast."   And this moveable feast — the "City of Light" — is not only the capital of a major European power, but home to a multicultural population ranging from movie moguls to municipal workers.

It's both a museum city and a monumental architectural experiment where, in half an hour, you can walk from Roman ruins, past the 12th-century cathedral of Notre Dame, to the 21st-century Bibliothèque Nationale de France.  Make Paris your home for a semester or a year, and you’ll be living and studying in one of the most magnificent cities in the world.

Program Description

Sciences Po (the "Paris Institute of Political Studies") is one of France's top-tier universities—one ranking puts it at #52 worldwide.  Dating back to 1872, its current strengths are political studies (international relations, political economy, and public policy), finance, management, communications, sociology, and law.  Sciences Po offers a European education that’s anchored in an international culture, maintaining exemplary standards in research and teaching.  Studying at Sciences Po is a challenging intellectual experience for students dedicated to learning in a stimulating environment. Classes are demanding, active participation expected and the work-load includes mid-terms, finals, oral reports and long analytical papers.

In the Sciences Po- Paris program you will be studying in the 6th and 7th arrondissements of Paris.  Sciences Po- Paris courses are offered not only in French, but English and other major languages.  Sciences Po-Paris is targeted toward majors in political science, European studies, international relations, and communications.
